This Day in History: 1895-01-02

Carrie Clyde Holly, from Vineland was one of three women sworn in to serve in the Colorado House of Representatives.  Holly was a Republican representing Pueblo County.   She was the first elected female legislator in the United States (and possibly the world) to sponsor and bring to fruition a law. Her first bill raised the “age of consent” for girls.
